The acclaimed animation studio has released the preview for its forthcoming animated film, Hoppers, and it presents a concept that is both quirky and entertaining.
Plot Overview
Hoppers revolves around a young nature enthusiast named Mabel Tanaka (Piper Curda), a 19-year-old animal admirer who acquires the power to communicate with wildlife after using some Avatar-like-inspired device developed by one of her college professors.
“The conventional approaches to study animals just weren't working,” notes a researchers that invented the brain-transfer tech.
How The Invention Functions
Called “The Hoppers Device,” the gadget basically works akin to the mind-link technology featured in the Avatar series films, with one small difference: Instead of waking up as a seven-foot-tall blue extraterrestrial, Mabel's consciousness is moved into a mechanical animal form. Specifically, a synthetic beaver-form.
Conflict and Cast
Similar to Avatar protagonist Jake, the heroine soon finds herself becoming overly involved with the residents of the animal kingdom, accidentally causing an animal rebellion led by a regal butterfly (Meryl Streep) and the king of the beaver community (Bobby Moynihan), who are set to “squish the humans.”
During a key moment, villain Mayor Jerry (Jon Hamm) is locked in his car by a pair of beavers and a lizard, who then go on to menace him using his phone's text-to-speech function.
Premiere Date
Hoppers debuts in cinemas on the sixth of March.
