Hospitals in Gaza have said that Israeli strikes killed at least 12 Palestinians on the weekend, marking one of the deadliest incidents following a fall truce deal designed to halting the conflict.
Details of the Attacks
The missiles hit sites in northern and southern Gaza, such as an apartment building in Gaza City and a shelter in Khan Younis, as stated by medical authorities which received the bodies. Among the dead were several women and minors from two families.
Israeli planes carried out additional attacks, while the army issued an alert to leave for a structure in Khan Younis, ahead of an attack.
Rising Casualties During Truce Efforts
The strikes came a day before a border crossing is expected to open in Gaza’s south, a reminder that the death toll is continuing to climb even as a truce deal slowly progresses.
All of the territory’s entry points have been shut since the start of the war, and residents view the Rafah passage with Egypt as a lifeline for the tens of thousands in need of treatment outside the territory as most of its medical infrastructure has been devastated by aerial assaults.
Israel wants to ensure that more Palestinians leave Gaza than enter it, as per reports, which indicated the goal is to allow only a limited number into Gaza through Rafah each day.
Medical Center Accounts
Shifa hospital said an Israel’s strike on Gaza City fatally wounded a woman, three children and one of their relatives on Saturday morning. Separately, a hospital in Khan Younis stated a strike in a makeshift settlement caused a blaze, killing seven, among them a man, his three children and three grandchildren.
Health authorities have recorded more than 500 Palestinians dead from military action since the beginning of the ceasefire on 10 October.
The armed forces did not immediately respond to inquiries about the strikes.
Ceasefire Deal and Proposed Vision
Despite Israel’s frequent killing of Palestinians in violation of the October ceasefire, the deal has moved to a pivotal next stage. Some of the thorniest issues are part of this phase, which would necessitate Hamas to relinquish weapons and hand over power to a newly-appointed Board of Peace organisation.

Context of Destruction
The vast majority of the territory has been levelled and basic infrastructure remains inoperable as a consequence of aerial campaigns over the recent period, which has also resulted in the deaths of more than seventy thousand people. Previously, a UN commission of inquiry determined that Israel had committed a genocide in Gaza.
